Lactose Intolerance

In continuation of my series of identifying different digestive problems, I’m going to briefly explain what it’s like to have Lactose Intolerance and what the best diet is if you have this condition. Lactose Intolerance is a common condition where your body doesn’t have enough enzymes to break down a sugar called Lactose and it is found in milk and milk products. 25 to 50 million Americans have some form of Lactose Intolerance and experience will vary. However, it could still be painful and uncomfortable, which could affect our everyday life. Some products that have Lactose are: milk, ice cream, soft and processed cheese, Pudding and Custards and cream based soups or sauces. Lactose is also in baked goods, milk chocolate and lunch meats. Now, you don’t have to a milk intake every day, but dairy is good for you. Dairy is a good source of calcium and vitamins A and D. With a regular exercise, what you get from dairy can make your bones and teeth stronger and make yo

Stress in School

I’m going to talk about something that seems a little off topic considering my blog, but what’s been on my mind recently. This semester has become a difficult semester when it comes to my work load in most of my classes. Last semester, I signed up for the classes I’m taking now and I never thought that I picked three classes that contained a heavy work load and takes a lot of your time.  I’m anxious person to begin with, so the growing amount of stress that I have felt over the past seven weeks has affected my mind set and self-confidence. That has caused me to experience a lot of stress and anxiety. I’m not talking about stress over of finances or chores that need to be done at home. I’m going to be showing that stress goes hand and hand with school. Stress is “defined as the brain’s response to any demand,” according to the National Institute of Mental Health .   It is also encourages positive and negative change for a short period of time and long-term s

Ways to Treat Flare Ups Part Two

And so I continue on with how to treat flare ups for different digestive disorders and conditions. There are so many ways for the treatments, so what I’m putting on here is not the final word. I’m just pulling information that I find off the internet and you can do the same thing. I have links on all my blogs of the websites that I use to get my information. You can judge by what I provide what is the best method for you to cure a flare up.     Lactose Intolerance : This is when you have problems digesting products like milk, milk byproducts (ex: Butter and Cheese), curds, dry milk solids and whey because you don’t have enough enzymes to break down the sugar (lactose) that is found in milk. There are different ways to preventing and treating a flare up. Changing your diet could help greatly. You can also have an intake of lactose every once in a way, which can help your body to get use the enzyme. There are also lactose free dairy products that only have half of lactose,

A Little on Gallstones

This blog   post is about another very common condition. I give a brief description in this post, but I’ll get into more detail here. I’m going to be talking about Gallstones and bile. First, I’ll talk about what bile is. The liver makes a fluid called bile that contains bile pigments, bile salts, cholesterol and lecithin. The body needs bile because it’s a helping hand for digesting fats. The liquid passes through the bile ducts and there is more then one, but bile will always go to the main bile duct. That’s when the bile will enter to the rest of the organs in the digestive tract. Gallstones are small, stone-like things that form when bile that passes through becomes very hard in the gallbladder. The gallbladder is located in the upper right abdomen below the liver. The sizes the “stones” can vary as small as a grain of salt to the size of a golf ball. I already said that gallstones are formed when bile gets hard in the gallbladder, but there is more to it. Gallsto
