So, you think the tummy rumbles and the chest pains that you have might be a digestive problem.

It’s time for have a specialist look at you.

There are all types of doctors or specialist that focus on one type of health problem. For disorders in the digestive system, you do not go to a regular doctor because these disorders are not like the common cold. You could say that you are part of an executive club that helps with some of your problems. There is a specific specialist, known as gastroenterologist, that has studied for years on how to help people with digestive problems and will be the main doctor that could explain everything you will need to know about you condition.

The first things to do are search for your local digestive health specialists and get an appointment set up as soon as possible. I was not sure whom I would go to when I started having problems, but I was told there was only one place in my area that specializes with my condition.

I recommend that if you are experiencing extreme pains and you can’t get an appointment at your local specialist; please, go to a regular doctor or the emergency room.

I remember when I booked my first appointment at the place I go to. I had to wait two weeks until I could be seen. If you are lucky to have multiple places to go to where you live, you will have a better chance of getting seen early.

According to Digestive Health Specialists of the Southeast’s website, a gastroenterologist is also called a “GI” specialists and studies gastroenterology, the knowledge of “the function and disorder of the digestive system which includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver.”

Of course, becoming a gastroenterologist is not that easy.  The specialist must have a clear idea, in detail, about the intestinal and gastrointestinal tract, the right diets, nutrients, waste removal and the metabolic processes, says News Medical.

Gastroenterologist would have to start out with a complication of an Internal Medicine residency that last three years and has to get accepted in specialized fellowship training for another two to three years. That doesn’t court for all the year in medical school.

The fellowship is the leader to national societies surrounded gastroenterology like the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
